Preventive blue-green algae plan

Preventive Blue-Green Algae Plan: Successful Approach at Sunparks Oostduinkerke in 2023 Confirmed in 2024

Between 2019 and 2022, the swimming pond at Sunparks Oostduinkerke experienced a three-year outbreak of blue-green algae, which had a negative impact on commercial activities.

Changing balances in water quality can lead to the bloom of blue-green algae, such as combinations of reduced oxygen levels, increased nutrient input, elevated temperatures, altered pH, and stagnant water.

We monitor real-time changes in the water system and, when necessary, provide targeted interventions by dosing activated microorganisms to restore balance in the water system and prevent the growth of blue-green algae.

Thanks to this preventive approach, we have contributed to ensuring that guests at Sunparks Oostduinkerke could enjoy a carefree holiday in 2023 and 2024.
